This video editing feature that SAVED MY TAIL.

I’ve been deep in Q3 paid media proposals for one of our clients. (How is July basically tomorrow?)

The good news: They have tons of high-production video.

The bad news: They had no separate audio tracks. Just the final‑cut version, music baked in.

Our LinkedIn Ad optimization recommendations hinged on one thing: Chopping their 2-minute, landscape videos into under-30-second, social-first clips.

Enter my lifesaver: Descript’s Studio Sound.

The feature is meant for cleaning up audio with background noise (like a recording done on a busy street).

But I used it to remove background music well enough to isolate the voiceover.

This means I could remix the content into ad-ready snippets without needing the raw or working files.

Use this feature if:

• You're working with final-cut video and no editable layers
• Your footage has background noise (fans, cars, lawnmowers, doorbells, etc.)
• Your audio sounds mechanical, like it came from a phone call or Zoom recording

EDITOR'S NOTE: Studio Sound can get a little heavy-handed. I recommend adjusting it down from the default 100% if it sounds weird.
